Sustainability Strategies of Coffee Farming in Danau Liang Village, Lebong Regency, Around Kerinci Seblat National Park

The buffer zone of Kerinci Seblat National Park (KSNP), including Lebong Regency, has considerable potential for the development of coffee farming. However, it faces sustainability challenges due to ecological pressures, limited resources, and the socio-economic conditions of farmers. This study aims to analyze the variables influencing the sustainability of coffee farming in Danau Liang Village and to identify key variables as a basis for formulating sustainable coffee farming strategies around the KSNP. The study employed a mixed quantitative and qualitative approach using purposive sampling, involving 65 farmers and 4 relevant stakeholders. Data were analyzed using the MICMAC method to map the influence and dependence among variables across five sustainability dimensions: economic, social, technological, ecological, and institutional. The results indicate that within the ecological dimension, water conservation is the most influential variable affecting the sustainability of coffee farming, while ecosystem conservation and the use of information technology also play significant roles. Variables in the linkage, dependent, and autonomous quadrants are highly dependent on the success of the main driving variables.
